Equal Pay Rally – 11am Wednesday 8 June 2011 @ Trades Hall

The Equal Pay Campaign has reached a critical stage.  The formal hearings in the case concluded on 12^th April, after 76 union witness statements, 25 different work site visits and enough days of hearings and evidence to fill over 1,300 pages of transcript.

A decision in the case is yet to be made:

• The Federal Government has not committed to fully fund the outcome of the case.
• The State Government has broken its pre-election pledge and has reversed its commitment to fully fund the outcome of the case.

A National Day of Action for Equal Pay for the Community Sector will be held on 8^th June 2011. Once again workers, employers, peaks and the community must come together to send a strong message to government and the Fair Work Bench to come to the party and play their part to ensure a strong and sustainable workforce for the community sector into the future.

On the 8^th June, each major city around Australia will hold a rally.  In Melbourne, this will begin at Trades Hall at 11am followed by a march to Parliament House.  Consistent with Executive Council Resolutions, we ask you and your members to join us.
