NPAAC (National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council) released another draft set of proposals to change the supervision requirements of pathology laboratories, which NPAAC is now calling Medical Pathology Services.

NPAAC is dominated by pathologists and clearly the agenda continues to be to restrict the overarching director position to medical pathologists and to squeeze out senior scientists (proposed to be called clinical scientists). The MSAV has put in a submission to NPAAC opposing a number of the proposals – most of which are a re-run of the proposals put up in 2010.

Further discussions have finally taken place in relation to the renewal of the public sector enterprise bargaining agreement, and substantial progress has been made.
