The Union has been informed by Melbourne Health that Western Health has announced its decision to put the pathology services currently provided by MH out to tender to test the market. Any tender accepted would take effect from 1 July 2011. We are informed that this will not immediately affect positions at MH and MH intend to bid for the work. The MSAV is concerned that moves may be made to restructure at MH before the outcome of the tender is known. If changes to any pathology department at MH are occurring now please contact Heidi Brown so that the MSAV can take action

The MSAV has written to Western Health seeking its assurances that public services will stay in public hands.
