Unfinished business from the 2007-2008 enterprise bargaining agreement includes the renovation of the classification structures applying to medical scientists, dietitians, pharmacists, audiologists, perfusionists and psychologists. We have reached agreement with the VHIA over the pharmacists and dietitians structure, and the grouping of health services which underpin each of these structures. The final versions of these structures will be available in the member-only pages of the website. (login first) We are very close to agreement in relation to perfusionists and audiologists. A new Grade 4 will be added to both structures, which currently only have 3 grades (apart from the Grade 4 audiologist at the RCH). Agreement has been reached to insert new classifications covering scientists working in IT, clinical trials and quality, and to extend the principal scientist classification to all disciplines in all metropolitan pathology services. There are some outstanding issues around scientist classifications in blood banking. Discussions over the psychologist structure will continue in Fair Work Australia next week, on Friday 8 October 2010.
