We have confirmed that most employers in the private sector agree with our advice to members in relation to payment for working over the Christmas/New Year period, as well as your entitlements to paid public holidays.

However we have not been able to reach agreement with Dorevitch Pathology, who want to dud scientists who work on both Christmas Day 25 December 2010 and the substitute public holiday 27 December 2010.

If you work at Dorevitch and have been asked to ‘volunteer’ on the roster for both days, please contact Paul Elliott at our offices for advice. Our recommendation at this stage is that if you work at Dorevitch, you try to ensure that you are not rostered on both Christmas Day and the substitute holiday.
