Consultation over Organisational Change: Biochemistry Austin Health PDF Print E-mail

Discussions took place in Fair Work Australia (FWA) last week over the information that Austin Health are required to provide in relation to proposed redundancies in the biochemistry department, including reasons for the decision, and the requirement under the public sector EBA that Austin Health consult with the Union. The MSAV is to provide information about existing workload problems.

The matter has been relisted in FWA next week.

We note that it is not open to Austin Health to change the days, hours or starting and finishing times of part-time scientists without their consent. We also note that the CEO of Austin Health is on the record as supporting flexibility of work hours and schedules to support work/life balance.

Dr Murphy has also cited research which has found that the biggest causes of workplace stress, and the taking of sick leave, are workload, management style and organisational change.
