In a landmark decision Fair Work Australia recently determined that workers in community services industries are paid less than public sector workers performing the same duties.

FWA found that gender has been an important factor in creating the gap in pays between the community services sector and various government sectors.

FWA has directed the Unions involved and employers to now discuss agreement on how the pay gap can be remedied. A major component of this will involve Government funding for increases.

A rally to promote the need for governments to fund pay increases for these workers will be held in early June.
