In principle agreement has been reached between the Union and the Victorian Hospitals Industrial Association (VHIA) and the Department of Health

We are waiting on the final formal approval by the Department of Health of the funding of the translation costs. The funding will be provided to individual health services.

Once confirmation of the funding has been received, the next step is to vary the current EBA to insert the new classification structures.

We will provide full details to members once the final approval is confirmed. We will be organising meetings of members’ at all major health services.

The new structures will come into operation from the first pay period on or after 1 January 2011. However no translations into the new structure will occur until the EBA has been varied. That will require a vote of staff covered by the agreement. Again, full details of the process involved in varying the agreement will be provided to members once the final approval is confirmed.

We are very pleased that the project is almost complete, after 3 years of hard work by the MSAV, VPA and AHP Committees and the Union’s industrial staff.

As a result of this, the Union is scheduling meetings at selected worksites to discuss the changes, and members working at those worksites will be notified. Thus far the following meetings are confirmed:
