Revised Standard and Guidelines on Professional Indemnity Insurance for Psychologists http://www.psychologyboard.gov.au/News/Current-Consultations.aspx The Psychology Board of Australia (PBA is inviting submissions on proposals for revised PI insurance arrangements for psychologists. Submissions on the Exposure Draft are due by 2 November 2011. The VPA is extremely pleased that, among other changes proposed by the Board, psychologists will be able to be covered by the PI insurance of their employer and that Union schemes will also qualify. At present employer PI cover is unlikely to meet the current stringent requirements of the Board, and Union schemes are not considered at all (unlike the situation under the Nurses Board and the Physiotherapy Board). The VPA has made two submissions to the PBA in relation to Union PI schemes, and problems with the current PI requirements, on behalf of VPA members. We welcome the opportunity to made further submissions in relation to the Exposure Draft. We have not yet analysed the Board’s proposals in detail: we will provide that analysis in the coming weeks, and in the meantime invite comments from members.
