Parental Leave Model Clause |

MSAV / VPA participate in the Public Sector Industrial Relations Committee. At that forum we raised an anomaly with current public sector parental leave clauses which are unclear on the entitlement to paid maternity leave in the event of a still birth beyond 20 weeks pregnancy (an event that occurs in less than 0.01 births). This is the stage at which a birth is registrable in Victoria even in the tragic event that the child does not live. Our amendments to the Victorian model clause ensure access to paid maternity leave in these circumstances. We will be seeking to have the model clause included in the agreement arising from this years public sector bargaining.
