Now we hear that some tests that were previously done by Melbourne Health are being sent to Queensland. The CEO of Western Health told the MSAV that the contract was going out to tender because Melbourne Health (which had been providing pathology services to Western Health) did not provide on-site microbiology services or sufficient on-site pathologists. It seems that it is OK by Western Health that the new contractor while seemingly undertaking to do these things actually fails to do so. In the world of budget airline pathology it seems you don’t get even what you do pay for. Meanwhile the people of the western suburbs are treated like second class citizens. We are still waiting for Western Health to provide details of the contractual arrangements with Dorevitch, and Dorevitch’s Ethical Employment Statement (yes, we know, sounds like an oxymoron), which we have sought under FOI and which is now the subject of internal review.
