Did Dorevitch Advise Western Health CEO that Some Samples are Being Sent to Queensland? PDF Print E-mail

As previously reported, Dorevitch Pathology appears to have breached its agreement with Western Health to provide pathology services by

  • Not offering contracts to all transferring scientists. Apparently Dorevitch are denying this, but not only do we have copies of the Emails sent by Dorevitch to Melbourne Health, the scientists who were not offered contracts are MSAV members. Who are Dorevitch trying to fool?
  • Not providing on-site microbiology. As the scientists who were not offered contracts were mainly microbiology scientists, it seems very clear that Dorevitch had no intention of providing on-site microbiology to Western.
  • Not being able to provide pathologists at all sites. Not only is there no pathologist at Sunshine Hospital we understand that the haematologist at Williamstown Hospital has resigned.

Now we hear that some tests that were previously done by Melbourne Health are being sent to Queensland.

The CEO of Western Health told the MSAV that the contract was going out to tender because Melbourne Health (which had been providing pathology services to Western Health) did not provide on-site microbiology services or sufficient on-site pathologists.

It seems that it is OK by Western Health that the new contractor while seemingly undertaking to do these things actually fails to do so. In the world of budget airline pathology it seems you don’t get even what you do pay for. Meanwhile the people of the western suburbs are treated like second class citizens.

We are still waiting for Western Health to provide details of the contractual arrangements with Dorevitch, and Dorevitch’s Ethical Employment Statement (yes, we know, sounds like an oxymoron), which we have sought under FOI and which is now the subject of internal review.
