YOUR RIGHTS AT WORK

Members have the right to be informed and consulted about changes to their roles and work practices that will have a significant effect on them.  Where employers fail to do so the union can only assist where:

1.       We have all the information
2.       Members ask us to assist

What we don’t know… is unknown and we can’t act. Similarly the Union cannot put precious resources into areas where members don’t want us to act or are ambivalent.
If change is occurring in your workplace
  • Insist that in impact statement be sent to the union
  • Consult with your co-workers - is there general agreement? – how will this affect you?
  • Consult the union about an action plan
