Resolutions of Members’ Meetings Psychologists A meeting of VPA members was convened on Thursday 11 October 2007 and the following motion was unanimously passed: This meeting of psychologist members of the VPA/HSU No. 4 Branch rejects the Victorian Government's unrealistic pay policy of 3.25% wage increase per annum for 5 years, based on productivity offsets of 0.75% per year. We reject the notion that the operative date of any increase is to be from the date of agreements being settled. We demand that the pay increases be effective from 1 October 2007. We demand that the Government drop its position that psychologists pay for their own pay rises and classification restructure and improvement in conditions through 'efficiencies' which can only mean intensification of work and higher workloads and/or a reduction in psychologist positions. The Victorian Government must fund public health agencies to be able to match rates of pay in New South Wales and in private employment/private practice if skilled psychologists are going to be attracted to, and retained in, the public sector in Victoria. Attraction/retention issues are now more significant than ever due to the impact of Medicare Rebates upon delivery of psychological services in public (mental) health. We authorise the VPA/HSU No. 4 Branch to take whatever action is necessary to pursue fair outcomes for psychologists in bargaining for collective agreements, and seek a response from Government by 30 October 2007 to the above resolution. Scientists, Dietitians, Perfusionists, Medical Physicists, Genetic Counsellors & Audiologists A meeting of MSAV members was convened on 16 October 2007 and the following resolution was passed unanimously: This meeting of MSAV members of the MSAV/HSU No. 4 Branch rejects the Victorian Government's unrealistic pay policy of 3.25% wage increase per annum for 5 years, with 0.75% based on productivity offsets. We reject the notion that the operative date of any increase is to be from the date of agreements being settled. We demand that the pay increase be effective from 1 October 2007. We demand that the Government drop its position that MSAV members pay for their own pay rises and classification restructure and improvement in conditions through 'efficiencies' which can only mean intensification of work and higher workloads and/or a reduction in positions. The Victorian Government must fund public health agencies to be able to match rates of pay in New South Wales to ensure staff in classifications covered by the MSAV are going to be attracted to, and retained in, public health in Victoria. We authorise the MSAV/HSU No. 4 Branch to take whatever action is necessary to pursue fair outcomes for MSAV members in bargaining for collective agreements, and seek a response from Government by 30 October 2007 to the above resolution.
