We are EFFICIENT - we have earned pay rises equivalent to nurses

Around 70 members of the union walked out of Monash Medical Centre on Tuesday 18 December 2007 to protest about the Brumby government’s failure to negotiate with us over our public sector EBA, and failure to offer our members equivalent pay increases to nurses.

In keeping with our slogan that ‘Efficient may have won the Melbourne Cup but it won’t win us a pay rise’, the rally was lead by our resident nag “Efficiency”, pictured below. Thanks to Peter Wells and other job representatives “gee-ing up’ members at Southern Health. We had a great turn out of psychologists, scientists, dietitians, pharmacists, geneticists, genetic counsellors and medical scientists, not just from MMC but also from Dandenong and Moorabbin campuses.

We featured on the Channel 9 news, and on 3AW and the ABC. We marched on the Executive Offices at Monash Medical Centre and delivered our message for DHS, VHIA and the government. Well done every one. For video footage of the event go to ;eurl=http://www.msav.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=314&Itemid=2">YouTube - Southern Health Stop-Work meeting

Rosemary Kelly and "Efficiency" in the office

We expect that Efficiency will feature in the campaign in January 2008 – unless the government sees horse sense first.
