This meeting of the BCOM of HSU #4 recommends that the following resolution be put to job representatives and members at a special meeting of the Union called for that purpose at Trades Hall on Wednesday 27 February 2008 at 4.00 pm:

“that if negotiations on Monday 25 February 2008 with DHS do not result in an acceptable offer, we call on all members to strike for 48 hours as per the motion passed by members at the Alfred Hospital on 15 February 2008.

During the strike NO skeleton staff will be left behind in Departments. An on call service will be provided to handle emergency work only.

Incoming work will be monitored by senior scientists, pharmacists, psychologists, perfusionists etc in each area to ensure that only emergency work is performed. Clinical notes are required to be provided for any requests.

There will be NO support for planned surgery, clinics, trials or routine work. This includes NO support for Category 1 surgery.

Members will not assist managers in contingency planning for the 48 hour strike. It is the Health Services’ responsibility to ensure that planned surgery, clinics, trials or routine work are cancelled.”

Please ensure that at least one person from your area attends the meeting on Wednesday.
