Clarification of payment for public holidays – part-time employees The relevant penalty rates will continue to apply to all time worked on public holidays by part-time employees. The reduction in payment arising out of the EBA negotiations applies to public holidays for which part-timers are paid but on which they are not required to work. Part-timers will now be paid for public holidays for which they are not rostered to work, and which they do not work, at single time, rather than time and a half. This is consistent with the payment that full time employees receive on a public holiday on which they are not required to work – ie payment for the day.

Operative dates for increases in paid maternity leave Paid maternity leave increases from 8 weeks to 9 weeks from 1 October 2007. It increases again to 10 weeks 12 months later, that is, from 1 October 2008 (not 1 December 2008 as previously advised).
