The Heads of Agreement between the Union and the DHS/VHIA is in the final stages of drafting. Once the drafting is completed, the Heads of Agreement will be signed and the salary increases will be able to be implemented, as well as the backpay to 1 January 2008 and the sign on bonus
Clarification of payment for public holidays – part-time employees The relevant penalty rates will continue to apply to all time worked on public holidays by part-time employees. The reduction in payment arising out of the EBA negotiations applies to public holidays for which part-timers are paid but on which they are not required to work. Part-timers will now be paid for public holidays for which they are not rostered to work, and which they do not work, at single time, rather than time and a half. This is consistent with the payment that full time employees receive on a public holiday on which they are not required to work – ie payment for the day. Operative dates for increases in paid maternity leave Paid maternity leave increases from 8 weeks to 9 weeks from 1 October 2007. It increases again to 10 weeks 12 months later, that is, from 1 October 2008 (not 1 December 2008 as previously advised).
