Despite having reached agreement with DHS and VHIA on 17 April 2008 over the terms of settlement of our enterprise bargaining dispute, the Heads of Agreement is still not signed. This is a major problem as, at the insistence of DHS, the pay increases will not flow into members’ pockets until it is. A number of detailed issues remain to be resolved; the Union has proposed a means of settling them which is in line with the Agreement reached in the AIRC. Disappointingly, we have been waiting since May 1 for a response from DHS/VHIA but still have not received one. We have written to the DHS emphasizing the need for this matter to be finalized next week.
