We have been in negotiations with Epworth since last September seeking to renegotiate our enterprise agreement. Following countless meetings of the parties and conferences in the Commission, members finally walked out and took to the streets on 13 May. This was an historic first for Epworth members, the majority of whom are psychologists. A meeting with Alan Kinkade, CEO of Epworth, was held on 27 May to put to him our members’ dissatisfaction with the Hospital’s pay and conditions offer. The Union put a further proposal for settlement which formed the basis of an improved offer on wages and classification. A Heads of Agreement is currently being drawn up which will incorporate all negotiated terms and conditions of employment. This document will then be circulated in draft form to members. After this, a further meeting of all members will be held to enable a decision to be made as to whether to accept the document. We have requested that this meeting be held in paid time to give all members an opportunity to participate.
