The Union has just assisted 2 members to obtain a total of $24,000 in backpay for non-payment of Higher Qualifications Allowance.  This figure would have been higher but for the employer’s reliance on a statutory limitation preventing claims more than 6 years old.  The backpay amount would cover the member’s yearly union fees many times over. Members are reminded to know their entitlements and follow up quickly.
