Proposed Healthscope Merger with Symbion Health PDF Print E-mail
The MSAV has made a submission to the ACCC opposing the acquisition of Symbion Health by Healthscope. The proposed merger would reduce competition in the pathology services industry, by creating a mega-pathology practice which would have 60% of the market in Victoria by combining the Dorevitch and Gribbles pathology practices. The MSAV submission can be viewed on the member-only pages of the website. The ACCC is expected to announce its ‘informal’ decision in relation to potential of the merger to ‘substantially lessen competition’ in the relevant markets, including regional markets, in mid June 2007.
