Laboratory management at the Austin recently stopped the pay of a member on Personal Leave because that person refused to disclose the details of their medical condition and rightly refused to attend a meeting with management while they were on Leave. This was an outrageous abuse of power and a clear breach of the Award. We are however appreciative of the prompt steps taken by Human Resources to rectify the situation when we took the matter to them. This confirms that members are not required to disclose to management the reasons for taking Personal Leave nor to attend meetings with their employer while on Leave.
