| Accumulation of Personal/Sick Leave: Eastern Health & Alfred Health |

As reported in last week’s Stat Report we are currently following up complaints from members at both these services that personal leave is being incorrectly credited to members at a lower rate that that which applies under our award/agreement. This has been the case since 2005.
We have been advised by Alfred Health that the necessary changes will be made to the payroll system in March, and that adjustments to individual sick leave accumulations will be made back to 2005. Eastern Health has advised that the sick leave adjustments will be made in the next pay run. We are concerned that this problem is not confined to just Eastern and Alfred. We fixed the problem at Southern Health last year. We will be contacting the Victorian Hospitals Industrial Association to see if we can determine the extent of the problem and get it fixed for all members. Personal leave entitlements in the public sector depend on your length of service and accrue as follows: 1st year of service: 121 hours and 36 minutes; 2nd 3rd and 4th year of service: 136 hours and 48 minutes and in the 5th and subsequent years 190 hours.
