We will be convening meetings with members at Dorevitch and GPS over the coming weeks to discuss these two issues.

Meetings will be held at the Heidelberg laboratory on Thursday 26 March 2009 at 6.30 pm and Friday 27 March 2009 at 12.30 pm. Details of meeting rooms to be advised.

Meetings at other metropolitan and regional laboratories will be held in the week beginning 30 March 2009.

Kronos Biometric Sign on System
A number of members have contacted us with concerns about the proposed introduction of fingerprint recognition devices to record staff entering and leaving the workplace for timekeeping and payroll purposes. Symbion is obliged to consult with the Union and staff under the provisions of the current enterprise bargaining agreement. The agreement provides that:

Local/workgroup based consultative groups of staff representatives will discuss and where possible resolve workplace issues including staffing levels and organisational change….

A Dorevitch wide consultative meeting will occur twice a year or more frequently if requested by either party to review the operation of the local/workgroup consultation groups and any other matters the parties consider relevant.

The agreement provides that the union and senior management as well as staff representatives will participate in the company-wide consultative meetings.
