Part of the negotiated outcomes of the public sector enterprise bargaining agreement renewal in 2008 was that “the parties agree to continue discussions under the auspice of DHS with a view to agreeing a model or models providing private practice rights for psychologists with public sector employers.”
We have been attempting to set up a committee in conjunction with the VHIA and representatives of the Mental Health Branch of the DHS to look at various possible models which would allow members employed full-time in the public sector to be able to access sessions of private practice in a similar way to psychiatrists who work in public mental health.
