Removal of Deputy Dietitian Role Cabrini Health PDF Print E-mail
In 2004 EBA round Cabrini Health agreed to appoint a grade 3 Deputy Chief Dietitian. Cabrini now say they are no longer bound by that agreement and have elected to remove the deputy role, based on budget considerations. MSAV members are angry that Cabrini is going back on its word and believe that budget cuts could be achieved without trashing the career path for dietitians.

For backfill of the Chief role (for annual leave, etc) Cabrini proposes that grade 2 dietitians leap from their lower level roles to become the manager of the multi campus nutrition service at Grade 4B level.  This is unacceptable and the matter is now going through the dispute procedure. Members have indicated that if asked to act up for the manager they will refuse.

The union has sought to meet with the CEO to discuss members concerns: this request has been refused by the CEO.

A proposal to redeploy the current Deputy into a grade 3 maternity leave replacement position has been made. This is also unacceptable; because (a) it is part-time and (b) it would not be ongoing (c) it would confirm the loss of the Deputy position.

Members considering applying for the maternity leave position should contact Heidi Brown at the MSAV office.
