Southern Health - Payment for part timers on Public Holidays - First FWA dispute for HSU#4 |

The union was contacted by a number of members who were not paid correctly for the Easter Saturday and Anzac Day public holidays. It appears that the reason for the incorrect payment is a misunderstanding by Southern Health as to the nature of the formula in the EBA for the calculation of public holiday pay for part-time scientists, psychologists and pharmacists.
The union has attempted to discuss the formula with VHIA who have claimed that AIRC decisions interpret the formula in a different way to that used for many years. No decisions have been provided and members have outstanding payments. For some pharmacists this goes back to 2007. A dispute has been notified to Fair Work Australia and we await a conciliation date.
