Dorevitch/GPS Enterprise Bargaining 2009 PDF Print E-mail
(Specialist Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd formerly Symbion Health Pty Ltd)

We met with Dorevitch/GPS management representatives last Monday, 26 October 2009. This was the first meeting to which the Company has agreed - and was only agreed to after the historic state-wide strike on 7 October 2009. MSAV members are to be congratulated on that show of strength.

We set out our claim to management for an increase in rates for scientists of up to 17%, and presented a graph which showed that Dorevitch/GPS is now at the bottom of the private pathology wages pile for scientists, and well behind the public sector.

This situation will become dramatically worse after 1 January 2010 when the public sector moves ahead by a further 3.25%.

We are seeking an operative date for commencement of the wage increases under the next agreement of 1 July 2008 – the date on which the first increase under the new agreement should have been paid but wasn’t.

Ultimately this is a matter for negotiation but will be a very important factor in determining the acceptability of any wages offer put on the table, and in determining whether or not there will be further industrial action.

Members are angry that the Company has continued to delay the process of bargaining by not putting a wage offer on the table on Monday, but deferring the making of an offer until the end of next week. A further meeting between the MSAV and the Company is scheduled for 12 November 2009.
