This year both Boxing Day (Saturday 26 December 2009) and Monday 28 December 2009 have been gazetted as public holidays. Monday 28 December 2009 is therefore an additional holiday under our awards and agreements, not a substituted day. This means that the public holiday penalties will apply on both days, even if you work on both. Note this is a change of advice from that provided in Stat 727.

Note that where a public holiday falls on your rostered day off you are entitled to an additional payment of time and a half or an additional one and a half day’s off.  This will apply in relation both 26 December 2009 and 28 December 2009.
